C. Lowry Barnes, M.D. is a joint replacement surgeon with Arkansas Specialty Orthopaedics in Little Rock, Arkansas. Barnes completed his adult reconstructive fellowship at Harvard/Brigham and Women’s in 1992 and returned to Little Rock to establish a sub-specialty hip and knee practice where he currently performs about 700 joint replacements per year. He established HipKneeArkansas Foundation and continues to perform clinical and basic research, having over 45 peer reviewed publications. He develops hip and knee products with Wright Medical and has a royalty relationship. In addition, he is active in the business of medicine, having been the founding Managing Partner of ASO where he continued that role for over a decade. He is active at St Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock where he is on the Finance Committee and was a Board Member for 10 years. He recently served as President of Southern Orthopaedic Association and President of Society for Arthritic Joint Surgery, and is currently Vice-President of Arkansas Orthopaedic Society. He has participated in Operation Walk trips with chapters from Los Angeles, Boston, Maryland, and Little Rock and considers this involvement as one of the most rewarding aspects of his career.
